Hi! I'm Markus and I create web-sites and applications using tools like Drupal, Wordpress, jQuery, QueryPath, HTML5, CSS3, XML, PHP, Java, C++, C, GNU/Linux, Apache, Nginx, MySQL, web services and digital video.

Design

My goal is to define and implement 'modernism' for the web. I use the term in the sense of the architectural styles of Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, Pierre Koenig and others. I strive to redefine the way in which people interact with each other on the web, and not simply how they view individual web-sites. I strive to create organic, expressive and visually thrilling sites employing best practices of design, architecture and engineering.

Development

I love pulling things together. Mashing up free open source tools, content and web services into useful applications gives me a thrill. I'm also a performance and efficiency geek! One of my favorite movies is 'Cheaper by the dozen'. In addition to being a productive programmer and project lead, I'm both a creative architect and an experienced mechanic. I be agile and stuff like that.

Laundry

This template came with this branding tee-shirt icon. I'd like to replace it, but I have more mundane things to do. Like the laundry. Sometimes you just have to stop and do the laundry. How does that relate to app development? Someone once said "A good developer knows that there is more to development than just programming; a great developer knows that there is more to development than just development."
